You may be out of Bluetooth® range
Ensure your smartphone is within 20 metres of your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller, as this is the maximum range for a standard Bluetooth® connection
Your smartphone may need to be restarted
- Ensure iGardener™ is properly closed on your mobile device
- Shut down your mobile device
- Turn your mobile device back on
- Open iGardener™ and see if it is able to connect
Bluetooth® may not be turned on
Use the system preferences on your mobile device to ensure Bluetooth® is turned on
Your smartphone battery may be running low
Note that on some smartphones, Bluetooth® connection may not be possible when the battery is running low
iGardener™ may be out of date
Ensure you have the latest version of iGardener™ installed on your mobile device.
Android
- Open PLAY STORE on your mobile device
- Tap ☰
- Tap MY APPS & GAMES
- This will show which apps have updates pending. Tap UPDATE for iGardener™ if available
iOS
- Open APP STORE on your mobile device
- Tap UPDATES
- This will show which apps have updates pending. Tap UPDATE for iGardener™ if available
Location settings may not be available to iGardener™
Check the location permissions for iGardener™ in your system preferences–this is essential for the iGardener™ to be able to connect to your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller.
Android
When opening iGardener™ for the first time on Android, you will be prompted to ALLOW LOCATION SETTINGS–this is essential for the Android version of iGardener™ to be able to connect.
iOS
When opening iGardener™ for the first time on iOS, you will be prompted to ALLOW BLUETOOTH AND LOCATION SETTINGS–this is essential for the Android version of iGardener™ to be able to connect.
Your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller may need to be reset
- Unplug your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller from the mains power
- Leave disconnected from the power for 5-10 minutes
- To perform a full hard-reset on your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller, unplug it from the mains power for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow internal memory to dissipate before reconnecting
- Reconnect your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller to the mains power
- Open iGardener™ on your mobile device and check if it is able to connect
Your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller may already be connected to another mobile device
- iGardener™ must to be downloaded to 1 single mobile device
- Adding your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller to iGardener™ on multiple devices will cause connection failure, and/or lights will not behave as they should
- To perform a hard-reset on your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller, unplug it from the mains power for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow internal memory to dissipate before reconnecting
iGardener™ may need to be reinstalled
- Uninstall iGardener™ from your mobile device
- Head to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to download and reinstall iGardener™
You may be using a different HOLMAN app
Ensure you are definitely using iGardener™. The following HOLMAN apps are not compatible with the Bluetooth® Garden Light Controllers:
- iWater
- Holman Water
- Holman Home
Your smartphone may not be compatible
The following smartphones are compatible with iGardener™ and the Bluetooth® Garden Light Controllers:
- Apple iPhone 5S and above
- Samsung G5S and above
The following smartphones are known to have issues with iGardener™:
- Google Pixel 2
- All Huawei models
Your smartphone may be from overseas
iGardener™ is geo-fenced for China, India and other countries. Smartphones from these countries will have difficulty connecting to your Bluetooth® Garden Light Controller
