If you notice two irrigation stations running at the same time, it’s often a sign of a mechanical issue—most commonly a dirty solenoid. This can occur when dirt or debris becomes lodged in the valve diaphragm, preventing the station from shutting off properly.
Identifying the Problem
To determine whether the issue lies with the solenoid or the controller:
- Swap the Station Wires
Switch the wires between the affected station and another.- If the same valve continues to run simultaneously, the issue is with the valve, not the controller.
- If the problem moves to the new station, it may be a controller issue.
- Flush the Valve
If the valve is the culprit, it likely needs to be cleaned. Dirt in the solenoid or diaphragm can prevent proper closure, causing overlapping operation.
