Pop-up sprinklers are a convenient and efficient way to water your garden. Each pop-up sprinkler comes with a pre-installed nozzle, and understanding its specifications is key to setting up your irrigation system correctly.
Sprinkler and Nozzle Information
On the body of your sprinkler, you’ll find important details such as:
- Flow Rate – Measured in litres per minute (LPM), this tells you how much water the sprinkler uses.
- Throw Distance – Indicates how far the water will reach.
- Nozzle Type – This will specify whether the nozzle is fixed or adjustable
Fixed Nozzles
These come in preset spray patterns:
- ¼ circle
- ½ circle
- Full 360° circle
Adjustable Nozzles
These can be set to spray at any angle between 0° and 360°, offering more flexibility for custom watering zones.
Our sprinklers use female threaded nozzles, which means they can be interchanged with any other female threaded nozzle for added versatility.

Planning Your System: The Bucket Test
Before installing pop-up sprinklers from a garden tap, it’s essential to perform a Bucket Test to determine your available water flow. This helps you decide how many sprinklers can run on a single line.
Important: If you plan to use a tap timer or manifold, perform the test with it attached, as it affects the flow rate.
How to Perform the Bucket Test
- Turn your garden tap on full.
- Place a bucket under the flow.
- Time how long it takes to fill.
-
Use the Bucket Test Calculator to determine your flow rate in LPM.

Sprinkler Water Usage Guide
-
Sprinkler Type Water Usage (LPM) Full Circle (360°) 9.4 LPM Half Circle (180°) 4.6 LPM Quarter Circle (90°) 2.4 LPM Example Setup
If your tap provides 25 LPM, you could use:
1 x Full Circle @ 9.4 LPM
2 x Half Circle @ 4.6 LPM
3 x Quarter Circle @ 2.4 LPM
Or any combination that does not exceed your total flow rate.
