Connecting a WX4 Tap Timer to Holman Home Using a Wi-Fi Hub V2

Overview

This guide explains how to connect your Wi-Fi Hub V2 and WX4 Tap Timer to the Holman Home app.

Before you begin, ensure:

• You have a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network available.
• Your phone is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
• You know your Wi-Fi password.
• Bluetooth and Location permissions are enabled for the Holman Home app.
• The Wi-Fi signal is strong where the Hub is being installed.
• Mobile Data is turned off if using AP Mode.

Option 1: Discovery Mode (Recommended)

Discovery Mode is the quickest way to connect your Wi-Fi Hub.

Step 1: Open the Holman Home App

1. Open the Holman Home app.
2. Tap the + icon.
3. Select Add Device.

Step 2: Put the Hub Into Pairing Mode

1. Press and hold the button on the Wi-Fi Hub.
2. Continue holding until the status LED begins flashing.

Step 3: Connect the Hub

1. Wait for the app to discover the Hub.
2. Select the Hub from the list of available devices.
3. Enter your Wi-Fi password.
4. Tap Next.
5. Follow the prompts to complete the setup.

Step 4: Complete Setup

1. Tap Done when pairing is complete.
2. Confirm the Wi-Fi Hub appears on your Home screen.

Option 2: Connect Using EZ Mode

If Discovery Mode does not work, use EZ Mode.

Step 1: Add the Wi-Fi Hub

1. Open the Holman Home app.
2. Tap + → Add Device.
3. Select Garden Watering.
4. Select Wi-Fi Hub (V2).

Step 2: Enter Wi-Fi Details

1. Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
2. Enter your Wi-Fi password.
3. Tap Next.

Note: If the displayed network is incorrect, tap Select Wi-Fi and connect your phone to the correct 2.4GHz network.

Step 3: Enable Pairing Mode

1. Press and hold the button on the Hub.
2. Wait for the LED to flash rapidly.
3. If the LED does not flash rapidly:
   • Release the button.
   • Wait 5 seconds.
   • Try again.
4. Tap Next.

Step 4: Finish Pairing

1. Wait for the Hub to connect.
2. Tap Done.
3. Return to the Home screen.
4. Confirm the Wi-Fi Hub appears in your device list.

Option 3: Connect Using AP Mode

Use AP Mode if EZ Mode is unsuccessful.

Step 1: Prepare Your Phone

1. Connect your phone to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
2. Turn Mobile Data off.

Step 2: Add the Wi-Fi Hub

1. Open the Holman Home app.
2. Tap + → Add Device.
3. Select Garden Watering.
4. Select Wi-Fi Hub (V2).
5. Enter your Wi-Fi password.
6. Tap Next.

iPhone Users: If prompted to confirm Wi-Fi credentials, select Confirm and Proceed.

Step 3: Change to AP Mode

1. On the Reset Device screen, tap EZ Mode in the top-right corner.
2. Select AP Mode.
3. Press and hold the Hub button until the blue LED flashes slowly (breathing pattern).
4. Tap Confirm.
5. Tap Next.

Step 4: Connect to the Hub Network

Android Users

1. Select the Hub network when prompted.
2. If a message appears indicating internet access is not available, select Connect only this time.

If Prompted to Connect Manually

1. Tap Go to Connect.
2. Open your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
3. Locate the Hub Wi-Fi network.
4. Connect to the Hub network.

Note: It is normal to see "Connected without internet" during this step.

Step 5: Return to Holman Home

1. Return directly to the Holman Home app.
2. Do not use app switching or multiscreen functions.
3. Tap Confirm hotspot connection.
4. Wait while the Hub completes pairing.

Step 6: Complete Setup

1. Tap Done.
2. Return to the Home screen.
3. Confirm the Hub appears in your device list.

Add Your WX4 Tap Timer

Once the Wi-Fi Hub is connected, you can pair your WX4 Tap Timer.

Step 1: Install Batteries

1. Install 4 x AA alkaline batteries into the WX4 Tap Timer.

Step 2: Open the Hub

1. Open the Holman Home app.
2. Select your connected Wi-Fi Hub.

Step 3: Put the WX4 Into Pairing Mode

1. Press and hold the START/STOP button for 10 seconds.
2. Release when the status LED begins flashing blue.

Step 4: Add the Timer

1. Tap Add More Devices.
2. Follow the prompts to complete pairing.

Troubleshooting

If the Wi-Fi Hub will not connect:

• Confirm your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
• Move the Hub closer to the router during setup.
• Double-check the Wi-Fi password is correct.
• Try AP Mode if EZ Mode fails.
• Restart your phone and try the setup process again.

Successfully Connected?

Once setup is complete, your WX4 Tap Timer will appear within the Holman Home app and can be controlled remotely from anywhere with an internet connection.
