When your sprinkler isn't moving as expected, there's a few things you can check:
Check that the Oscillating Sprinkler is set-up correctly
- This video will help you set up your Oscillating Sprinkler
The distribution cylinder on your Oscillating Sprinkler may not be centred when turning on the water
- Ensure the distribution cylinder (the main bar running down the middle) is angled to the centre (straight up and down) when turning on the water
There may not be enough water pressure to power your Oscillating Sprinkler
- Oscillating Sprinklers are dependent on regulated water pressure to disperse a constant spray
- When the water pressure is too low, there is not enough pressure to move the distribution cylinder back and forth
- Depending on how low the water pressure is, the sprinkler can move extremely slow to one side, and may not have enough pressure for it to pivot back
Solutions/checks for low water pressure:
- Check for crimps and kinks in your hose and fix where necessary
- Try opening your tap more to increase the amount of water flowing to your sprinkler
- Try a different model oscillating sprinkler
- It may be that the overall water pressure on your home system is too low
- You may need to find a different sprinkler that operates better under lower pressure
- When purchasing your sprinkler, check the recommended operating pressure range against the water pressure in your home
There may too much water pressure connected to your Oscillating Sprinkler
- Whenever the water flow is too strong the pressure can work against the internal turbine and gears of your Oscillating Sprinkler
Solutions/checks for higher pressure:
- To avoid too much water pressure, try adjusting your tap to reduce the water flow
- Failing the above, you may need to try a pressure regulator from your local plumbing or home improvement supplier
There may be grime build-up inside your Oscillating Sprinkler
- Use the included cleaning tool as per this video to clean each nozzle
- Wipe the Oscillating Sprinkler with a clean cloth
- Apply spray lubricant to each end of the oscillating arm for smooth operation
- Remove any obstructions that may interfere with the sprinkler’s operation, including tall grass, weeds, gravel, or mulch
- Flush a vinegar/water solution through the sprinkler to remove any build-up of calcium or mineral deposits
There may be internal mechanical issues
- If this is the case, you may need to replace your Oscillating Sprinkler
