Welcome to another Three Minute Thursday!
In this video, we go through how to adjust the spray angle, spray arc and how to change the nozzle of a Professional Gear Drive Sprinkler (SH7500).
Setting up a Professional Gear Drive Sprinkler (SH7500)
The Professional Gear Drive Sprinkler is factory-set with 180° arc setting and includes a pre-installed #3 nozzle. It has a fixed RIGHT POINT START and an adjustable left stop.
Position Nozzle Turret START Point
- Place your finger on the top centre of the nozzle turret
- Rotate the turret counterclockwise to the left stop to complete any interrupted rotation cycle
- Rotate the nozzle turret clockwise to the right-hand-side START point
- The START point does not change
- This is the fixed side of the arc
- The nozzle turret must be held in this position for arc adjustments
Adjusting the RIGHT POINT START (RPS)
If the RIGHT POINT START (RPS) (1) is not properly aligned, the sprinkler may spray in areas not intended for watering such as driveways or adjacent properties
There are two ways to adjust this side of the arc:
-
Reposition the Can on the Fitting
- Turn the sprinkler can (4) and the fitting below it left or right to the desired position. This may
require temporary removal of the soil around the sprinkler to allow you to grip the sprinkler can - Remove Internal Riser Assembly and Reposition
- Unscrew the top (2) counter-clockwise and remove the internal riser assembly (3) from the can. Once removed, position the RPS arrow to the desired starting position. Replace riser assembly back in the can and screw on the top. At this point, the arc has been realigned, and the arc angle can be set to an appropriate position
- Turn the sprinkler can (4) and the fitting below it left or right to the desired position. This may
- Adjusting the ARC ANGLE
-
- Insert the plastic KEY of the universal tool into the arc set adjustment slot (5)
- While holding the nozzle turret at the RPS (1), turn the KEY clockwise to increase the
arc size, or counter-clockwise to decrease–each full 360° turn of the universal tool will adjust the arc 90° - Adjust to any arc between 40° and 360°–the universal tool will stop turning, or there will
be a ratcheting noise when the maximum or minimum arc of 40° or 360° has been reached
Changing Spray Nozzles
The Professional Gear Drive Sprinkler includes a nozzle rack including 12 different nozzles with various flow options. In order to change out a nozzle, you will need a flat head screwdriver:
- First ensure that the diffuser pin is dialled all the way up, so you can remove the nozzle
- Using the flat head screwdriver, insert this into the middle of the nozzle and gently wiggle the nozzle out
- Choose the required replacement nozzle and remove it from the nozzle rack
- Align the nozzle and ensure the space for the diffuser pin is located at the top
- Simply slot and push the replacement nozzle back in
