9V battery in your Irrigation Controller may need replacing
Check the 9V battery in your Irrigation Controller is present and working
-
- This can be found underneath the snap-on lid at the bottom of the Irrigation Controller next to the terminal block
- In some cases it may be tucked up behind the board, or taped to the back of the board
- While it is safe, but as an extra precaution, ensure your Irrigation Controller is disconnected from the mains power before using your fingers to retrieve it
- This battery is used to back up the permanent memory of the Irrigation Controller

Can we maybe assume OP Is not an idiot, and already tried that?
I have the same problem -- installed a new 9V battery but still getting the flashing "Battery needs changing" light. The timer is otherwise dead, it doesn't even work in manual mode. I have two 2-dial timers, and the new battery works fine in the other one. So the problem is in the timer, not in the battery.
So, back to the original question -- how can we fix that?
