Advanced Garden Light Scheduling
There are two different types of smart scenes available to use within Holman Home.
What are Tap-to-Run Scenes?
- These are scenes that you can run manually – tap the name to perform the set task
- For easy access, once created the Tap-to-Run scenes show on your Home screen by default in a scrollable list (left to right) above your list of devices
- The major reason for setting up Tap-to-Run scenes is to use them with Google/Alexa/Siri
- They are also great for pairing multiple devices to run at the same time
How to create a Tap-to-Run smart scene and activate Siri
- Start by heading to the SMART Tab that is located along the bottom of the Holman Home home screen. Click on the + button in the top right-hand corner to create a new scene
- This will open the CREATE SMART window where you will be able to choose from a range of conditions
- For setting up a voice-activated task, we will be choosing the LAUNCH TAP-TO-RUN button
- Next, select the RUN THE DEVICE button, this will allow you to choose from the devices you have connected to Holman Home. Select the Wi-Fi Garden Light Controller
- Now you will be presented with a number of functions. SWITCH allows you to choose if you are turning the device ON or OFF. MODE allows you to select if you are running a scene or one colour on your lights
- Today we will be turning the Controller to turn ON.
- If no MODE is selected, the controller will use the COLOUR mode by default. Click SAVE after selecting the ON switch
- Next, you will see the Tap-to-Run scene condition and settings. Click SAVE. You will then be asked if you would like to add this Tap-to-Run scene to Siri. In the WHEN I SAY box, type in what you would like your voice command to be
- i.e. “Turn on my Garden Lights” or “Backyard Lights On”
- Click ADD TO SIRI. This command can be removed and adjusted at any time. This Tap-to-Run scene will now appear on your Holman Home home screen and in the SMART Tab
- This scene call also be activated by clicking on the saved scene
Note: The first scene that is saved in the SCENE tab of your Wi-Fi Garden Light Controller will be used by default. If picking the COLOUR mode, the last selected colour on the colour wheel of the will be used by default.
What are Automation smart scenes?
- These are scenes that have a trigger – they will only run when a condition or a set of conditions are met
- These conditions fall under 3 categories. When the weather changes, a schedule, and when the device status changes
- Once the condition is set, you can choose from 4 tasks to be executed
- These scenes can be run using Google/Alex voice control only. They do not work with Siri voice control
How to Create an Automation Smart Scene
Turning on your Garden Lights when the Weather Changes
Setting up different Automation scenes allows you to transform your outdoor space based on different weather conditions. For example, setting your Garden Lights to a blue scene when it is raining, or setting your Garden Lights to appear yellow when it is sunny outside. This tutorial will show you how to set up an Automation to activate a scene when it is raining.
- Start by clicking on your device on the Holman Home Home tab. Open the Wi-Fi Garden Light Controller and click on the SCENE Tab. This is where you will create your scene to be played out once the Automation is set
- Edit the first scene and select your desired colours by clicking on the + button.
- We recommend selecting BREATHE as the COLOUR FLASH MODE, this will allow you to select multiple colours.
- Once you have finished with your settings or renaming the scene, click SUBMIT
- Now you are ready to set up your Automation. Head back to the HOME tab in Holman Home
- Select the SMART Tab that is located along the bottom of the screen. Click on the + button in the top right hand corner to create a new scene
- This will open the CREATE SMART window where you will be able to choose from a range of conditions
- Select WHEN WEATHER CHANGES this will take you to a variety of different weather conditions that you can select from
- Select the WEATHER option, and in this case, we want the weather condition to be Rainy. Select the RAINY option and click NEXT. Now we can select the task we wish to complete
- Click on RUN THE DEVICE and select the Wi-Fi Garden Light Controller
- Now we will select the MODE Function and select the SCENE Mode
- Click SAVE and now you have successfully created the automation for your Garden Lights to turn on a Scene when it is raining
