Product Safety & Material Certification Explained

Both the fittings and hose used with this product have been tested and certified to Australian Standard AS 4020.

✅ What does AS 4020 mean?

AS 4020 – Testing of products for use in contact with drinking water is the most relevant and applicable certification for this product and its intended use.
This standard assesses whether materials that come into contact with drinking water affect water quality, taste, odour, or safety.

Achieving AS 4020 certification confirms that the fittings and hose are safe for use with potable (drinking) water in Australia.

🧪 What about food‑grade certification (AS 2070)?

The polymers used in both the fittings and hose are technically food‑grade materials and would meet the requirements of AS 2070, which is the Australian Standard for materials intended to come into contact with food.

However, we have not pursued formal AS 2070 certification for this product.

Why?

• AS 4020 is the more appropriate and relevant certification for products designed for water supply and irrigation applications.
• The product’s intended use is contact with drinking water, not food handling or food storage.
• AS 4020 specifically addresses the performance and safety requirements needed for this application.
